Dr Anna Stavdal: On Overmedicalisation
When Anna Stavdal stood for election as WONCA President-elect, in Seoul, she focused on the importance of adapting the core values of family medicine to current trends. Here she reflects on the vital issue of overmedicalisation, prompted by a recent BMJ article.

One of this month’s Featured Doctors is Dr Daniel Knupp, President of the Brazilian Society of Family and Community Medicine. He has been practicing as a GP / family doctor for nearly two decades since finishing residency training. Most of his time has been devoted to caring for patients, in the day-to-day business of a primary care service in the city of Belo Horizonte, in the south-eastern region of Brazil.
