WONCA Awards 2018
At the recent WONCA World Conference a number of prestigious WONCA
awards were conferred – one Honorary Life Direct Membership; twelve
WONCA Fellowships and of course the WONCA Global Five Star Doctor award
to Dr Veronica Casado of Spain. To find out more about these and other

WHO NCD Knowledge Action Portal launched
Our colleagues at the WHO GCM/NCD Secretariat have announced that the
Knowledge Action Portal has officially launched. This is a
community-driven platform for non-communicable disease information,
interaction and inspiration. In addition, they include a communications
package with announcement message and a range of social media
materials.
WONCA Featured Doctor: Professor Shabir Moosa (South Africa)
One of this month’s featured doctors is Professor Shabir Moosa, who has
recently taken over as WONCA Africa Region President. Shabir has been
active in many aspects of WONCA over many years, including as a very
effective member of the WONCA International Classification Committee
(WICC).
WONCA South Asia Region conference in Lahore.
Continuing our feature of the various WONCA conferences and events
scheduled for 2019, this week it’s the turn of the WONCA South Asia
conference. This will take place in Lahore, Pakistan, from 22nd to 24th
